Tool #7

Here is my Photo story. I was able to load it on the 3rd day second try. I loved the idea of being able to tell a story in pictures. I think this would be a great way for kids to put together a project, or just a story of their school year.

Reflections---What I think of the 11 Tools.

1)       I believe that my favorite tools I now have in my toolbox are jing, and I also enjoyed using the image generators.

2)       We are using the new technology in our room. We will now start to involve other forms of that we have learned this year into the lessons for next year.

3)       I don’t think there were any major outcomes that I didn’t expect. I really did enjoy all of the new tools, and information that was presented to us.

As a Teacher, the things that I would want to make sure my students to understand about being a good Digital Citizen are:

1)       Understand that what you say or do on the internet is now traceable back to you. You need to be aware of what is written, and posted on the Internet.
2)      Do not believe everything you read. You need to make sure you can validate your information.
3)      You must give credit to the people you are getting your information from. If someone else wrote it they get credit for it.

Having been the Campus Technology Representative for the Sherwood Elementary campus this year I have had the chance to use both the ITouches, and the IPads. We have used both of them in our classroom this year. We have different levels of students in our class. There are fifth graders, third graders, and even a kindergartner in our class. They have all successfully used both the ITouch, and the IPad. We have been able to find many different apps on ITunes to keep all of the different level students involved, and interested in the new technology.

I really like having the chance to use videos in the classroom. We as teachers now have the chance to show the students the world. Some of the children I have taught may never get to some of the wonderful places in the world I can take them to in a video. Since I am new to teaching I have included a video on Professional Development. Also, I am a Special Education Teacher, so I included a video on Autistic Children.

I really liked Jing. This will come in handy when you are using different computers, and in different rooms at work and want to show others what you are discussing. Also, when we're home and using our computers but want to share what's on our screen with friends, or family members..
The link '50 Awesome Ways to Use Skype in School' has some really great ideas for using Skype in the classroom! One of my favorite Skype ideas was 'Share students’ work with parents.' The parents had a first hand look at their child's work in the classroom.

Tool #6

I think students could use the Wiki's to collaborate, share, and create resources for group projects. As much as I see the students using this to collect and store the information. Teachers can also collaborate to create the Wikis to present to the students so they can see the information possibly easier than just looking things up on the Internet.  The Wikis can be manipulated to be presented to a variety of different skill levels.
